Project for the refurbishment of a small apartment.

How to live cozy and with a hint of luxury in a small apt? In less than 50 square meters, with limits such as the presence of a big load bearing wall and being the building listed, arcHITects designed a modern apartment, characterized by an excellent habitability by minimizing the connective spaces and turning them into functional areas.

The small size, generally faced as a restriction, becomes an opportunity to develop project solutions to accomplish the owner request without sacrificing both functionality and the mood and decor of interiors.

The 50 sqm refurbished apartment consists of a living/dining room, an essential yet fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom with walk-in closet and a bathroom with separate laundry room.

The diffuse lighting made by LED strips, hidden behind plaster cornices, concealed the low ceiling height while giving a sense of “airiness” to the rooms.

The modernity and rationality of the design is balanced by a classic and “Shabby & Chic” decoration, gained through the extensive use of cornices and stucco elements, old fashioned skirtings, modern shades of classic “New England” colors that better binds the apartment to the architecture of the historical building.
